It’s easy to get bogged down in our daily lives.  We all have a list of things we’d like to get to. Carve out some time for mindfulness practice, and you’ll see that you are more productive than you have ever been.  Imagine the other things that you could do with this new free time.

Can you spare five minutes? That’s all you need to become more mindful, right now.

Try it, what have you got to lose. Oh right, five minutes.

Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight, feet touching the floor.

C’mon, you could do this anywhere, even at work.

Now center your attention on your left foot. Notice any tension, stiffness, or other sensation. Release any tension.

Next move on to your right foot, again notice any tension and release it.

Continue moving your attention up your body, left calf, right calf, left thigh, right thigh, releasing tension as you go.

Move your attention to your pelvic area, release any tension. Then on to your buttocks and up to your lower back, abdomen, chest, middle back, upper back.

Next center on to your left arm, then your right, releasing tension as you go.

Now, your shoulders left then right. Move to your neck, front and back notice any tension and release it.

Up to the back of your head then your face, jaw, behind your eyes.

Finish at the top of your head, again noticing any tension and releasing.

That’s it!

It’s likely you will feel more relaxed. But you achieved more than just that. You also increased the focus of your mind.

Continue with this exercise and your results will also increase. Over time your focus can become significantly better, allowing you to be a more productive person. Giving you that extra time we spoke of initially.

But wait, there is more!

You can begin to turn this new focus inward and change your entire life for the better.

How’s that for snake oil ?

We’ll be back with more exercises that will help you live a fuller, happier life, alive and in the present.
