We all know that to be healthy, we need to exercise, right. But that doesn’t sound like any fun! Exercise doesn’t have to mean working out at the gym or jogging. The idea is simply to get your body in motion so that you can burn some calories!
Here are some fun ways to use up some calories without having to feel like you’re working out:
- Your kids may just be your greatest workout routine. Get involved with having fun with them. You can get out the basket ball and shoot some hoops, go for a swim, or better yet, teach them some good old-fashion games like tag, Red Rover, hopscotch or jump rope.
- Go dancing! Or stay home and dance in your kitchen. Either way, the music will give you energy that you didn’t know you had, and the movement will do just what you need – burn calories. The best part is, you will have a great time. Invite some friends over for a dance party!
- So, this tip may lack the fun factor or the first two, but next time your office is going to hold one of those dreaded meetings, suggest a walk meeting. Everyone will be talking about work and you may not realize how many steps you get in. All you need is a sidewalk or open area near the office.
- Take a trip to your local zoo. You will get in your steps while getting to see some fun animals. The local amusement park will do too.
- Take up a new hobby that is done outdoors. This might be kayaking, photographing nature, joining a softball team, snorkeling, disc golf – let your imagination guide you as long as it does not involve sitting.
Make exercise fun – that’s the best way to stick to it. Find something you enjoy, something that you will look forward to doing each week. Chances are good that if you dread it, you wont do it, so avoid things you hate and find ways to get your body in motion doing something you love.
